Helloooo, our first DIY is going to be *Drumroll Please* MAKING LIPSTICKS FROM CRAYOLAS!
All of us have some spare crayons sitting around in our room from when we were little, so why not make something useful for us out of them! (If you have smaller siblings maybe you'd like to purchase an extra box)
Here's what you need:
- One whole Crayon, the color of your choice (Bright colors usually work better!
- 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil.
- A Pot
- A small, empty, container to put your lipstick on. (I recommend an empty lipstick case or an empty contact lens container)
- Small glass bowl or jar (smaller than pot)
- 1/2 teaspoon of Olive Oil/Castor Oil.
- Cutting Board
- Butter Knife
All of these are things you can find at home, except for the coconut oil, probably.
*Instead of the Coconut/Olive oil you can use a teaspoon of jojoba oil and an almond sized chunk of shea butter.
**Optional: Add 1 drop of Vitamin E.
STEPS:
- Remove paper from Crayon (you can also combine different crayons)
- Fill pot with a few inches of water, turn the heat down after it boils.
- Add coconut Oil and Olive Oil to jar
- Cover your cutting board with a paper towel and cut your crayon to small pieces with the butter knife.
- Add your crayon bits to jar.
- Place jar inside the pot (with the heat still on) and stir the contents of the jar with chopsticks or a small spoon until smooth.
- Turn off the stove and take the jar (using oven mitts, it is very hot) and carefully pour the mixture into the container for your lipstick (empty lipstick tube, etc.)
- Place container in fridge for 15-20 minutes.
- All Done! Apply with fingers or lipstick brush!
